The figures were inspired by three poles that once stood in the same poses at a Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ village near Cape Mudge, Quadra Island. The positions represent a hospitable welcome and a willingness to share food and stories.
Indigenous Tourism BC acknowledges that it is situated on operates on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).
