Features a killer whale, symbol of protection and a guardian of safe journeys. Carved by Chief John Speck as a project to teach carving techniques to members of the fishermen’s union during a strike; praised by local First Nations, city officials, and labor leaders.
Indigenous Tourism BC acknowledges that it is situated on operates on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).
