Squamish River Estuary House Post

Explore Squamish's rich cultural landscape through art

Skwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw - Squamish, BC

Nestled within the natural setting of the Squamish estuary along the Chelem Trail, the Estuary House Post brings together symbols of the land and waters that sustain life. The carving depicts a bear’s head, a human head, salmon, and frogs, representing the interdependence of people, animals, and ecosystems. Created in collaboration with community members and environmental coordinator Randall Lewis, the house post emphasizes the estuary’s role as a vital nursery for salmon fry, a haven for birds and creatures, and a living system akin to an old growth forest.
