Whey-ah-Wichen (Cates Park) is an ancestral Tsleil-Waututh Nation village site located on the inlet in North Vancouver. The hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ place name means “facing both directions” and “facing the wind.”
Indigenous Tourism BC acknowledges that it is situated on operates on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).
